Lauren and I have had some great meetings on this trip. Our schedules have been packed with meetings on most days that we are not traveling. There have been days when we’ve had breakfast meeting, followed by coffee meeting, then lunch, two more coffee meetings, dinner meeting, dessert meeting, and sitting with our host family when we finally get back late night. Our girls have been troopers through all the meetings. But we’ve had help from people whom we have just met, as well as acquaintances to our girls.
Some, like the C family whom we met up with in Seattle, and the L family in Vancouver, are people that our girls have heard about from my trips overseas, and prayed for as they were back in their home (?) cities for a break after living in their adopted homes. The kids had instant bonding as they recognize that they are third culture. They spent precious time with our girls while we were having meetings. There were the W family whom we’ve just met, but quickly became friends. The 20 somethings quickly adopted our girls as their younger sisters and took them out for ice cream, rented a movie and watched it with the girls. D & R, an older couple, quickly became uncle D and aunt R to our girls. They found a way for the girls to go to a day camp, and provided for our girls to enjoy a day at the Dinosaur museum in Drumheller. We could go on and on about all the fun things that our girls got to do because of the generosity of people. When Lauren and I think about why they were so generous, one thing keeps on coming to the surface above all else – they share a common belief with us – not only that Jesus Christ is our Savior, but that we are on a journey together to see Him glorified.
There are lots of free parks along the way, too. Some that stand out for us, other than the incredible sites that we saw along the roads, are: Stanley Park, Kit Beach, Granville Island, and Spanish Banks in Vancouver. There were times when I would go to meetings and LK would simply stay with the girls. There were also times when we had to kill several hours between meetings. Of course, the girls got to hang out at the mall a lot. This is dangerous… đŸ™‚
