We began yesterday in Banff, AB and drove toward Edmonton. Our schedule called for a stop along the way where our gps could not find. Needless to say, we weren’t too excited as we set out – mostly because we thought we just couldn’t top what we saw along the Trans-Canada Highway. We were wrong.
We drove into a picturesque dairy farm surrounded by field of bright yellow canola flowers and were given a tour by the owners who have been faithfully partnering with missionaries serving in South America for twenty years. We got an up-close glimpse of farming and the dairy business. We visited a calf that was born just a day before, saw how they milk the cows and even got to participate.
But what amazed us most was how much the owners of this family dairy farm love Jesus. It is hard for them to be away from the farm because they have to milk the cows twice a day (5 am and 5 pm) no matter what. So, they have decided to partner financially with missionaries who are serving in hard places.
I believe that their prayers and financial partnership is just as important as those who go. The sacrificial giving of these hard working people don’t always get mentioned in missionary biographies and stories. But they are so important! We were blessed during our brief visit.
